Yes folks, the Sesquicentennial Celebration turned out to be a resounding success.  Crappy weather threatened all week and the wind was blowing hard all the way through our sound check Friday afternoon, but The Core took the stage at 6:30 and right in the middle of our fourth song (House of the Rising SUN), the clouds broke and the wind died down and a fantastic time was had by all.  We finished the evening by the light of automobile head lamps to the tune of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, packed up our gear, and as the last bit was being loaded into the truck, the rain resumed.  Those who don't believe in miracles would do well to remember this story.

Selected videos of The Core's performance are available for viewing on Youtube.  CLICK HERE

Are there some alums with whom you are in touch, but who may not know about this web site?  Tell them to look us up, write to ssmweb@sbcglobal.net, and ask to be added to the mailing list.  Also, everyone on the mailing list as of July 10 received an invitation to view still photos from the weekend in a compilation album on KodakGallery.com.  If you didn't receive an invitation, write and ask for one.  (It is not possible to place a link here, unfortunately.)

On behalf of The Core, thanks to EVERYONE who made it happen -- school staff, audience members, EVERYONE!

WHAT A TRIP!

Now back to our regularly scheduled program:

Have you got a picture from back in the day that you would like to see here?  E-mail it as a .jpg file to ssmweb@comcast.net and put "Shattuck" in the subject line in case Your Humble Webmaster has to fish it out of his spam barrel.

Want to know what this site is about?  Click About Us.

PARENTS!  You already know you want to get your 14-year-old son out of your hair and out of your house, but to just which insitution should you ship him?  Please consider Shattuck School, circa 1968.  (Webmaster's thanks to Peter Stromquist, '71.)

Then take a quantum leap forward to our Spring 1972 Alumini Magazine!  Our favorite philosophical quote, from Saint Amy Frost, '72: "Shattuck has equipment to offer us ... which we wouldn't have access to if we weren't coordinated."   (Webmaster's thanks to Gretchen Hormel Davey, '72.)

Back in 1971 it was clear that all the ills of society which were manifesting themselves at Shattuck were to be blamed on certain members of that one organization at Shattuck which was accused of holding itself above the rest of the school.   So, what better time than then to KILL THE CRACK SQUAD!  Enjoy Headmaster Curry's letter to the incoming 1971-72 Crack Squad, and Squad Captain Doug Irvine's response.  If you sniff your screen you might just smell mimeograph ink.

Joint '72, the novel-in-progress inspired by our days at the schools, now has its own web page with easy-to-use links, no password required.

Actual Faribo police reports and witness interviews regarding the murder that occured in the fall of 1970 are posted in the Murder message board.  If you don't already have the password, write to ssmweb@sbcglobal.net, identify yourself and your connection to the schools.

Click Collage to see some faces from back in the day. For it and the special items above,  Adobe Reader is required.  It's free.
